We were returning to San Francisco from Mendocino and had to stop when we saw the train car. So glad we did. The great and affordable chocolate was only exceeded by the graciousness of the owner. It was an unexpected and unplanned treat that we enjoyed the rest of our trip!

Perfect for before or after wine tasting! We stopped in at this cute and clean venue within a train car. So many delicious choices with wonderful recommendations from the owner. Highly recommended.

Happy Anniversary, Jeni!  It's wonderful to hear you have been in business for three years now despite the way of the economy.  I noticed you have a lot of "regulars" who come in either on their way through Boonville or some of the locals (like me).  I sure appreciate how well you know your products and are able to help me through some tough decisions with the gifts I get for people.  I hope that sharing all your scrumptious goodies brings you more customers and your business continues for years to come!  CONGRATS!

The truffles were heavenly!  And Jeni, the owner, was very helpful and friendly.

Having recently subjected a five and half year old to a fairly exhaustive wine tour with grown-ups along Hwy 128, I realized the valiant child richly deserved a stop all his own. Thankfully, Boonville was up to the task with this beyond-delightful train car of delights. And, as it turned out, the Boonville Chocolate Shop is an amazing compliment to the Pinot Noirs this region is famed for. Our group ended up trying the (all dark chocolate) tiramisu, espresso, coconut, peanut butter, mint, and hazelnut flavors of truffles. All surpassed even our most optimistic expectations. In a surprising move for the child in question (the dear one who prompted the stop), opted for a mixed bag of Jelly Bellies. While I considered it a bit of a waste for the stop, he was pleased to taste them one by one over the next hour plus long car ride. All chocolates are American made, but European in quality. (We had two Europeans with us who vouched for this.) Jeni, the owner, took pictures of us in her adorable (real) train car shop and recommended child-friendly swimming holes. It's pretty much guaranteed to be a staple on future trips.

I have to admit, I never thought I would enjoy dark chocolate candy, but the chocolates at the Boonville Chocolate Shop are totally irresistible and scrumptious!  I was delighted to discover the prices are also very reasonable, especially since the quality of Jeni's (the owner) candy is top-notch and easily equivalent to the chocolate I enjoyed in Europe.  My absolute favorite and I swear you can't eat just one are the Dark Chocolate-covered Chipotle Almonds.  Yep, they have a little "spike" of spiciness to them and not one in a bag is quite the same.  And a bonus...they also have sea salt on them, so it's like eating BBQ potato chips and it's a challenge for me not to eat the whole bag in one sitting!  I highly recommend anyone who enjoys chocolate (the mlik chocolates melt in your mouth) to head for Hwy 128 in the Anderson Valley and seek out the quaint little train car chocolate shop in the equally quaint little town of Boonville!
